Cross-Country hosts Willow Springs
Invitational
Last Thursday the
Willow Springs Cross-Country Team participated in the Willow
Invitational held at the Willow Springs Municipal Golf Course.
Around 25 schools participated
in the meet with many runners competing. Although this proved
to be a tough 3 mile course, Willow did exceptionally well.
Senior Zach Capeder medalled with a 4th place finish and Junior
Zack Kojdecki placed 16th, one away from receiving a medal.
Also, Freshman Shelby Brown came in 86th and Sophomore Matt
Kojdecki finished right behind coming in 87th. There was a
problem with times for the Varsity boys at the finish chute.
Freshman Quencie Colley
medalled with an 8th place finish and a time of 24:48.84 and
Freshman Kim Toten finished with a 12th place medal and a
time of 25:42.99. The middle school runners ran a 1 mile race
and did fairly well. Stephanie Williams medalled with a 9th
place finish and a time of 11:35. Christy Smith came in 18th
with a time of 12:12 and Casey Hall finished 37th with a time
of 13:12. Kyle Smith finished 52 with a time of 12:18.
The Cross Country team
travels to Joplin this Saturday to compete in the Missouri
Southern Invitational.

Going the distance
Run! Run! Run!
That was the story of
the cross-country team this summer as the middle school and
high school runners started those long morning and evening
runs. Climbing out of bed at 6 o'clock in the morning to run
is not exactly what most people look forward to but is essential
to having a successful season. Coach Waggoner recruited eight
girls and six varsity boys this year.
The girls include juniors:
Meagan James, Kara Hinten, and Lacey Hall and freshman: Quencie
Colley, Kim Toten, and Lindsey James. The middle school girls
include: Casey Hall and Christy Smith. The boys include senior:
Zach Capeder, juniors: Daniel Rhoades, Drew Rouse, Chris Evins,
and Zack Kojdeski, sophomore: Matt Kojdeski, and freshman:
Shelby Brown.
Come out and support
the JV and Varsity runners this Thursday as they run in the
Willow Springs Invitational. Coach Waggoner and the crew look
forward to having a fun and successful season.
