1.   All 8th grade students and parents are urged to attend the Academic Fair on Monday Feb. 5th at 5:30 p.m. in Grimes.  At the fair, students will learn about classes and extracurricular opportunities in high school.  They will also turn in their top choices for their proposed elective classes for 9th grade. 

2.   No 7th Grade tutoring Thursday.

3.   This week is "Spirit Week for Hoop Queen"! The theme this year is: Great American Road Trip

****Please note : As with all other Spirit Weeks before, no face painting allowed also no glitter.  Hats will be permitted when they fit a particular day's theme.  Students will be expected to be 100% cooperative with teacher direction in all cases when hats need be removed during class.

TODAY- Colorado: Ski Trip/Winter Attire
Thursday-Texas: Western Wear
Friday-Missouri, the "Heart" of America: Wear red to participate in the American Heart Association's Wear Red Day and to raise awareness and help fight heart disease and stroke.

4.   Galena chess tournament will take place this Saturday, Feb. 3rd,  in Galena, MO. Bus leaves at 6:30 am. from the new gym, back at 6:00 p.m. Entry fee is $7, bring snacks or snack money. See Serghei for details.

5.   Reminder that the Library is open on Tuesday and Thursday's after school until 3:30. You must have a signed permission slip to stay.

Interact Club will be will be staying after school tomorrow to fill food bags.  Meet in Mrs. Wall’s room after school plan on staying until 4:30. 

All basketball, cheerleading and band Seniors need to stop in Mrs. Pettit's room  and fill out the questionnaire?

Hoop Queen Sadie Hawkins (Girls Ask Guys) Dance will be Friday, from 9-11:30 in the Bears' Den. Tickets ($6 single/$10 couple) are on sale now. Tickets can be bought at lunch time. The dance is semi-formal (nice clothes) and girls take the lead (buy the tickets and invite the guests).

Sophomores:  If you are interested in possibly attending SCCC (vo-tech) your junior and senior year, you will have an opportunity to tour their facilities and learn more about their programs on Thursday, February 8. The bus will leave at 8:20.  Plan to bring money for lunch.  You must sign the list on Mrs. Munson's door by Friday if you plan to go. A complete list of the programs offered next year is also on Mrs. Munson's door.

Sophomores:  If you are interested in possibly attending SCCC (vo-tech) your junior and senior year, you will have an opportunity to tour their facilities and learn more about their programs on Thursday, February 8.  Keep in mind, you will NOT be allowed to attend SCCC if you have lost any credits your freshman or sophomore years.  You MUST have 16 credits earned in order to enroll.  The programs offered at SCCC include:

Auto Mechanics
Commercial Art and Advertising (Creative Design)
Culinary Arts (Foods)
Health Science (Nursing)
Welding
Pharmacy Tech (Seniors only - would take Health Science junior year)
Carpentry 
Information Technology Program (*New Program) 

The bus will leave at 8:20 for the tour and presentation.  Plan to bring money to purchase your lunch afterward.  If you would like to attend the tour, please sign the list on Mrs. Munson's door by Friday, February 2.

2.   Have you seen the kindness chain in your hallway?  Don't forget that you can add new strips to the chain every day. Blank strips are available outside the door of your Social Studies classroom.  Fill them out just like the ones that you did in your M-1 class last Wednesday.  Place your completed strips in the bin inside your Social Studies classroom .

3.   Deadline for reading 4 Truman or Mark Twain Books is Feb. 21st.  You must pass quizzes to attend the party.

Kaylynn Wake has  created her own vegan cookbook, for her senior project. It is now available for purchase. The books are only $8 and include forty recipes. If you are interested in purchasing one, you can get an order form from Mrs. Amanda or Kaylynn. Orders forms are due today.

1.   8th Graders:  The next Wacky Wednesday Weird Science STEM challenge will be on Valentine's Day, February 14, in Mrs. Binkley's room from 3:00 p.m. until 5:15 p.m. The extended time is so we will have time to perform trials of our "event" as well as have time for some snacks and Valentine goodies. Please see Mrs. Binkley or Mrs. Pollard for more info.  Hope to see you there!

You can find where your GAP group is meeting by looking at the posters on the window in the entrance to the library.

1.   Club Bear Volleyball- The first meeting will take place Tonight with players and parents. We will walk through a few drills to get prepared for the season, so bring your shoes, shorts, knee pads and a t-shirt. This will be the ONLY DAY players are allowed to join.  If you have any questions please see Coach Hopper or Coach Williams.


2.   Mrs. Owens will be having reading after school today.
