MIDDLE SCHOOL:

1. Next week is Spring Break! Enjoy your week off!

2. 8th Grade:  Scheduling Night (when parents come sign schedules) had to be moved to March 31st (3-7 pm)

3. Students: When you leave today. you need to take everything off the hallway hooks and the tops of the lockers--it will not be there when you get back after spring break. You also need to check lost & found for any items you are missing. Those will be taken to MUNCH after Friday.

4. The Morning Mileage Walking School Bus will begin Tuesday, March 24. Arrive at the track between 7:10 and 7:15 AM on T-W-Th if you wish to participate.

5. Don't forget Yearbooks are on sale now!

6. Cooking with community kids and family members will begin on April 6th. If you are interested pick-up a flyer  at the Student Info Center.

The Lip-Sync Battle has been cancelled.

The City of Willow Springs will be accepting applications for lifeguards and cashiers.  Anyone interested in working this summer must apply by next Friday. Applications are available at the High School Office and at City Hall. Must be 16 by May 30, 2020 to apply

1.  Today-Mark Twain/Truman readers: Permission forms for the field trip are due.

3.  Students: When you get here in the mornings, if you are eating breakfast, you need to go straight to Grimes and enter directly through the doors to Grimes--do not go to your hallway first. Also, do not use Grimes as a shortcut to the old gym--you do not need to be in there except to eat or if you have a class in there.

4  Art Club will meet this Thursday, March 12th from 3:05 to 5:00. Don't forget to remind your parents.

5. Thursday there will be a cheer clinic for any 8th grader that is trying out for high school cheer on Thursday from 3:05-5:00 p.m.  Meet in Ms. Tyler's room.

Congratulations to Kanoa Ousley for an 8th place varsity medal in the SCA academic bowl last Saturday.

Students, clean off the outside of your lockers and check the lost & found. The outside of lockers will be cleaned off at the end of the day if you haven't already done it. Lost & found will be taken to MUNCH today, also.

Congratulations to Derick Stolba and Jessie Clarkston who, along with the rest of the debate team, competed against 21 area schools this Saturday. Jessie won 5th place in International Extemporaneous Speaking, and Derrick won 4th in Humorous Interpretation and 5th in Poetry. And congratulations to the entire speech and debate team for a great season!

Prom information:
  • Today is the last day to buy your tickets!
  • Prom tickets will be on sale in the, during 1st lunch in the lunchroom and until 3:20 after school in the commons. Prom tickets are $75 each.
  • When you buy your prom tickets, you need to return the signed waiver for yourself and your guest. The blank waivers were in the envelope with your invitation.
  • On the school website you can request a song to be played at prom. All songs need to be school appropriate and easy to dance to.
  • If you are renting a tuxedo from Vintage Floral, the deadline to do that is Friday, March 27. They won't have extended hours like in the past, but they will do a tux fitting by appointment if you call them and set it up.

The speech and debate team will be hosting Willow's first ever Lip Sync Battle Friday, March 13th in Grimes Auditorium. Competitors may use props and costumes, but it is not a requirement. Duets and groups allowed. You do not have to compete to join in and have a great time. Only $5 at the door.  Email Ms. Martin with your song selection if you plan to enter.

This day will be for those trying out for Color Guard to perform their tryout routine.
2.   If you have finished 10 Mark Twain or Truman quizzes please stop by the library and pick up your information letter and permission form for the field trip.  

3.   Art Club will be held Thursday, March 5th, and Thursday, March 12th, 3:05-5:00.  Don't forget to remind your parents!

4.   There will be a cheer clinic for any 8th grader that is trying out for High School Cheer from 3:15-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3rd, Thursday, March 5th, Tuesday, March 10th, and Thursday, March 12th in Ms. Tyler's classroom.  This clinic will be to work on jumps and motions in order to be better prepared for high school cheer tryouts which are scheduled for March 26th.  Please let Ms. Tyler know if you have any questions.  This is not mandatory but is being provided to help prepare you for High School Try-outs.

The City of Willow Springs will be accepting applications for lifeguards and cashiers.  Anyone interested in working this summer must apply by the March 20th  deadline.  Applications are available at the High School Office and at City Hall.

Prom information:
  • Prom tickets will be on sale in the commons before school, during 1st lunch in the lunchroom and until 3:20 after school in the commons thru Friday. Don't wait until the last minute to get your tickets. The sooner you buy your tickets, the better bus and table choices you'll have. Prom tickets are $75 each.
  • When you buy your prom tickets, you need to return the signed waiver for yourself and your guest. The blank waivers were in the envelope with your invitation.
  • The library and Bearbucks Coffee Shop will be closed before school thru Friday while prom tickets are being sold. Sorry for the inconvenience.
  • On the school website you can request a song to be played at prom. All songs need to be school appropriate and easy to dance to.
  • If you are renting a tuxedo from Vintage Floral, the deadline to do that is Friday, March 27. They won't have extended hours like in the past, but they will do a tux fitting by appointment if you call them and set it up.

The speech and debate team will be hosting Willow's first ever Lip Sync Battle Friday, March 13th in Grimes Auditorium. Competitors may use props and costumes, but it is not a requirement. Duets and groups allowed. You do not have to compete to join in and have a great time. Only $5 at the door.  Email Ms. Martin with your song selection if you plan to enter.

7.   There will be a cheer clinic for any 8th grader that is trying out for High School Cheer from 3:15-5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3rd, Thursday, March 5th, Tuesday, March 10th, and Thursday, March 12th in Ms. Tyler's classroom.  This clinic will be to work on jumps and motions in order to be better prepared for high school cheer tryouts which are scheduled for March 26th.  Please let Ms. Tyler know if you have any questions.  This is not mandatory but is being provided to help prepare you for High School Try-outs.

8.   8th grade students: If you are interested in trying out for HS cheer please pick up a Cheer Packet in the MS Office. Tryout Camp starts March 24th.

SPORTS: Registration is going on now for the YMCA Summer Baseball & Softball programs.  Registration forms are available at the Student Info Center or you can pick one up at the YMCA.  The deadline to sign up is March 4 by 5:00 p.m.  Forms coming in after the deadline Will be put on a Waiting List!

1.   Today-Softball practice starts. Practice will be at the tee ball field behind the new gym.

2.   Our middle school CAT students did a tremendous job at the regional Destination Imagination tournament in Carl Junction this weekend! Both 5th grade teams received first place in their team performance as well as first place in their instant challenge. 6th grade received 3rd place in their team performance and 1st in instant challenge. The 7th/8th grade team earned 1st place in their team challenge. All teams qualify for the state tournament!
