1.  The dress code for Thursday, October 31, will be the same as it is for all other regular school days.  Save all Halloween costumes, facepaint, etc. for home; do not bring or wear them to school.

2.  On Thursday night chess team traveled to Glenwood for the annual Tri-County Chess Championship. 21 bears took part in the tournament, and for many this was their first tourney. Elementary team and middle school team won first place, and HS team came in second. Trophies went to Abigail Wills for 1st, and Isaac Miller for 2nd in MS. Abigail Wills was the undefeated winner, Isaac Miller was also undefeated in second place, Daniel Iacovlev had 2.5 pts, Vasiliy Zavalin and Ruvim Flato 1.5 pts., Arsen Kulakevich 1 pt. In a competitive junior high division, Josiah Wills came in 8th with 2.5 pts, Vivienne Iacovleva 13th with 2 wins. Great job! Next tournament is in Willow on Nov 23.

4.  Art Club will meet again Thursday, November 7th and Thursday, November 14th, 3:00-5:00.

Congratulations to the chess team, on Thursday night they traveled to Glenwood for the annual Tri-County Chess Championship. 21 bears took part in the tournament, and for many this was their first tourney. Elementary team and middle school team won first place, and HS team came in second. In high school, Drake Marshell was 4th with 3 wins, Rogan Traver 7th with 3 wins. Gabe Story, Patrick Burch and Nolan Smith had 2 wins each, Caleb Ward, Averi Sigert, and Colton Wood brought a point each for the team. Great job! Next tournament is in Willow on Nov 23.

1.  Oct. 22- 25 is Red Ribbon Week in the middle school.
     Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. More importantly, Red Ribbon Week is nationally recognized and celebrated, helping to preserve the memory of Drug Enforcement Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs. Special Agent Camarena dedicated his life to keeping our country and children safe.  Red Ribbon Week serves as a way for students to take a stand against drugs and to make good life choices.
     You are being given a red bracelet instead of a ribbon.  Please wear it this week, or any day after.  Every time you see it, remember the meaning behind Red Ribbon Week.  Remember the man whose life was ended because of VERY bad choices of VERY bad people. Remember that life is all about choices…. Aim to make the right ones and always do your best to learn from the wrong ones.
     To kick off RRW, on Tuesday we will have a speaker from Community Project of the Ozarks.  Teachers will direct you as to when and where your class will hear the speaker.

Clinic and Try-Outs will take place in Grimes Auditorium. You MUST attend all clinic days in order to try-out!
10. Registration is going on now for YMCA Basketball for 5th & 6th graders. Forms are available at the M.S. Student Info Center and also the YMCA.  The deadline to sign up is October 30.

Hallway Music: Today - Throwback: 2006

GAP meetings will take place during lunchtime and Bear Time today. Pick up a sack lunch in the Bear's Den either when you hear the all-call or when the bell rings for lunch and then go to your GAP Advisor's location. You can find where your GAP group is meeting by looking at the posters on the window in the entrance to the library.  Students you will remain in GAP until dismissal time at 12:40.
 
Student-Led Parent Teacher Conferences will be held today in Grimes Auditorium from 2-7.
 
There will be NO credit recovery or homework lab today.
 
No chess today. Next Thursday, the 24th, is the tournament in West Plains. Please contact Serghei for details.

1. Today is the last day to claim anything from the Lost and Found. Everything leftover will be taken to MUNCH!

3.  7th and 8th Grade Girls Basketball:
Any 7th grade girl interested in playing basketball this year, sign-up with Coach Hopper before you leave school on Thursday.
Any 8th grade girl interested in playing basketball this year, sign-up with Coach Fisher before you leave school on Thursday.
If you did not play a fall sport or have not already turned in a physical, you will need to have a physical before the first practice.  The first practice will be at 3:00 on Monday afternoon in the Bears Den.

FBLA Members--anyone who wants to compete in the Virtual Business Challenge needs to see Mrs. Pettit to register. You may compete by yourself or as a team of three, but you can only be on one team.
 
Zoe Kimbrough’s Senior Project, The Bears for a Better Christmas: Spike Wars Volleyball Tournament will be held November 5th in Mumford Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
Each grade will have a team of 4girls, 4 boys, and one student coach.     
The sign up sheet will in Ms. James’ room (at the end of the freshman hallway) on Wednesday and Thursday.   
Admission to play is $10 and that will include a team shirt.  
The sign is first come, first serve, but you must have your money.
Once teams are finalized there will be a meeting to discuss the night of the tournament.
