I. A quorum being present and due notice having been published, the regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Willow Springs R-IV School District was called to order by Tony Friga, President. Other members present included: Adrianne Mansfield, Derek Fredrick, Larry Rothermich, Farrell Graves, Dean Aye, Shane Lee and Derrick Hutsell, Superintendent and Mandy Scarbrough, Board Secretary.
II. Guest present at meeting: Andrew Coursen, Mike McHenry, Jennifer Gossard, Amber Lewis, Jewell Holloway, Melanie Pitts, Vernieca Luerssen, Jerry Wickens, and Matt Knapp
IV. CONSENT AGENDA ITEMS
A. Approval of the agenda
B. Approval of minutes from September 12th, 2016 meeting.
C. The balance of all funds is currently $3,504,567.79. Last month’s balance was $3,553,227.11 and the
balance one year ago was $3,268,953.40.
D. Approval of bills payable
E. The food service balance is currently $128,582.94
F. Approval of the following substitute teachers: Porshia Garrison and Morgan Smith
G. Approval of the following volunteers: Julie Owens, Shelly Cooper, and Jessica Schubert
Motion by Derek Fredrick, seconded by Shane Lee to approve the items on the consent agenda. Motion carried 7-0.
V. ITEMS FOR INFORMATION
A. Dr. Hutsell discussed the administrator’s reports with the Board.
B. Andrew Coursen gave an overview of the Districts technology improvements. Mrs. Pitts informed the Board of the updates in the High School Library and Mr. Knapp and Mr. Wickens talked about the new 3-D printer and how the students are utilizing it.
C. Mr. Waggoner presented to the Board the District’s MAP Achievement data and gave an overview on the CSIP plan.
D. The Board discussed having a self-study.
F. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on October, 13 from 2-7:00 pm. School will be closed October 14th.
VI. ITEMS FOR ACTION
A. Motion by Farrell Graves, seconded by Larry Rothermich to approve the MSBA on-line policy service and the MSBA policy agreement for the 2016-17 school year. Motion carried 7-0.
B. Motion by Farrell Graves seconded by Shane Lee to approve the CSIP plan (Comprehensive School Improvement Plan) as presented. Motion carried 7-0
