When did you start implementing your lifestyle changes?
January 2017

Give us some of the changes you have implemented.
Eating habits and the changes that I have made since being a part of and continuing the wellness challenge include the following:
• Reducing the amount of sugar intake by accepting smaller portions of dessert and only eating desserts every third time they are made available to me.
• Consumptions of liquids such as soda, sweet tea, and coffee have been reduced and replaced with water and unsweet tea.
• Most dairy products have also been limited.
• I have replaced white breads with whole wheat.

What motivated you to do so?
My motivation was self-improvement and a desire to regain energy I believe was lost due to poor dietary choices.

What has continued to motivate you?

I continued the change in dietary practices throughout the summer due to the way I was feeling from having made the changes to my diet.

Give us weight loss other and other objective measures since starting (i.e. distance you run, etc.)
I did not have an objective toward losing weight. I noticed as I continued the program throughout the summer I had to tighten my belt by moving in one hole at a time until final I drilled a new hole to accommodate my weight loss. Overall throughout the summer I lost a total of twenty-two pounds which for me equals four notches of the belt.

What are some of your favorite foods or recipes?
Fresh vegetables, fruits, and trail mix have taken the place of desert style snacks. I don’t have a specific recipe or dietary change that would have me trying new things I have simply altered the amount I take in.

What are future goals you have planned?
My future goal is simple, stay on track and continue healthy eating practices.

Did you think you were healthy before the plan and what changes in exercise have you made since the challenge?

I believed myself to be extremely healthy due to my already existing workout schedule and martial arts program I was involved with. I have added six hours a week to my already existing six hours a week training schedule. I do not believe this would have been physically possible if I had not changed my diet due to the wellness challenge.
