Healthy Schools Healthy Communities
9/20 update:
Our 1st Healthy Teachers = Healthy Schools session will be held Monday, September 25th from 3:45 - 4:45 PM in Grimes Auditorium. The topic for this first session is Stress Management, that will be facilitated by Rebecca Smotherman. This presentation is open to all and free to attend. Everyone who attends will be receiving a writing journal. In October the topic will be Physical Activity and in November the topic will be Nutrition. For those who attend all 3 sessions, your name will be put in a drawing for a $100 Visa gift card. Hope to see you Monday!
9/13 update:
The Alliance For A Healthier Generation just released their new partnership with Amazon Business, making it easier to access and purchase healthy snacks.
Introducing The Healthier Generation Store with Amazon Business – the first verified online store dedicated to exclusively selling Smart Snacks compliant products. Consider this resource if you may be purchasing items that are sold during the school day which must meet Smart Snacks standards. Per our District Wellness Program, these standards are also encouraged to be met or exceeded with food and beverage items that may be offered or served to students.
8/30 update:
Our surfacing project between the Old Gym and the Middle School/HS building addition that was funded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Non-Playground Scrap Tire Material Surfacing Grant Program is complete and ready for use! I want to again thank Randy and Josh Owens for their work in the site preparation, along with HS Art Teacher Mr. Justin Wade for making the template and painting the maroon portion of the bear logo.
As I have mentioned previously, this area will not only service our Middle School students before school and during their recess, but will also provide an additional area of usage for other class groups during the school day and the community after hours. The portable volleyball standards that are on the area are heavy, so we will have some plywood strips available to put down to roll them off the area when necessary to prevent rutting the surfacing with the wheels on the bases.
