Tuesday thru Friday - Student Requests

  1. Junior class officer meeting during 2nd lunch TODAY in Mrs. Brower’s room.

  2. Girls Basketball practice will begin TODAY after school. Report to the new gym immediately after school. Bring basketball shoes that you used over the summer or last season in case the shoes we ordered for this year are not in yet.

  3. ALL Juniors will be taking the ASVAB on either Tuesday or Wednesday (Nov 3 or 4).  The day of testing and your room assignment is posted on Mrs. James' window.  You should report to your testing room immediately after the bell has rung at 8:15.  Testing should conclude around 11:15.  If any seniors wish to retest in an attempt to raise your score, see Mrs. Munson ASAP. 

  4. Seniors interested in touring and learning more about MSU-West Plains will have an opportunity to attend Red Carpet Days on Friday, November 13. The bus will leave at 8:45 and return at approximately 2:45.  Lunch will be provided by the University. You must sign the list on Mrs. Munson's door by Thursday, November 5 in order to attend. 

  5. Attention Juniors:  We have hosting a concession stand this Saturday at the Golf Tournament.  We need volunteers to help serve food or volunteers to donate food and drink items.  The sign-up sheet is in Mrs. Brower's room on the board.  Sign up by Thursday to help.  Most donations need to be brought in on Friday. This is a fundraiser for prom!  Reminder:  Only juniors who help with a fundraiser may be on a prom committee and have a say on prom activities.  Sign up ASAP!

  6. This year’s Girls Basketball shirts are now for sale! You can pick one up at Miss Connie’s office, from Coach Gutscher or Coach TIlley. Order forms are due by Friday @ 3:00pm.

  7. Students who go deer hunting during the upcoming youth and regular rifle deer season, please bring in a picture of you and your deer (with the date and parent signature on the back) for display on Mrs. James’ office window.  If you have perfect attendance from November 2nd – 24th, your name will be entered into a drawing for a $50 cash prize.  Good Luck Hunters!

  8. The Jostens rep will be here for graduation products and cap & gown orders on Wednesday at 8:30 in the Bear’s Den.  Don’t forget to bring your order form and deposit.

  2. Attention Vo-Tech students:  Although you do not have vo-tech TODAY, several of you have low grades and/or outstanding class work that must be completed before you will be allowed to leave.  See Mrs. James for permission to check out.
  3. FREE Movie TONIGHT at 6:30 at the Star Theatre.  See the bulletin boards for more information.
  4. SIGN UP FOR YOUR CHANCE TO WIN ½ A HOG!  4 winners to be drawn TODAY.  $20 for 20 tickets, $10 for 6 tickets, or $2 each.  Tickets must be purchased from Miss Connie by 3:00 PM TODAY. Hogs were purchased through FFA and will be taken to Cabool Kountry Meats for processing (fees are winners responsibility- appr. $60).  This is a great chance to restock the freezer and support our football program at the same time!  Thank you for your support.

1.  Willow Springs High school team won 1st place in the Howell County chess championship last night. Middle school team came in 2nd, with Patrick Burch becoming the Howell county undefeated co-champion. In middle school, Caleb Ward was 3rd, Cody Ward 5th. In high school, Avery Traver was 5th, Mark Kharitonov was 4th, and Alex Sheehan was 3rd. Congratulations to the Willow chess team on an outstanding performance! Next tournament is on November 14 in Willow Springs.

We will be collecting cans and non-perishable food items again this year. Last fall, our generous Bears donated over 170 items of food to MUNCH. For every item of food you bring, you will be given a ticket; for example, 5 cans of food = 5 tickets.  Throughout the evening, winning numbers will be announced and you could take home a prize!

  1. A Jostens representative will be here TODAY at 8:30 in the Bears Den to meet with seniors regarding graduation products.
  2. Seniors:  A college rep from Midwest Technical Institute in Springfield will be here at 10:00 TODAY.  MTI offers certificates in medical assisting, dental assisting, cosmetology, journeyman welding, HVAC/R-MAR Technician, and a CDL training course. 
  3. Congratulations Grace Bailey who was voted 2nd Team VB All-District.  GREAT JOB GRACE!
  4. Spanish club meeting Wednesday during both lunches in Ms. Griffith’s room.
  5. The Howell County Chess Championship is this Thursday in West Plains. It is open to any student who would like to try and play in a chess competition. You do not have to be a member of our chess club to play. The entry fee is $5. Please let Serghei know whether you are going to attend. The bus will leave from the HS Library at 3:00 pm. We will come back to the new gym around 9 pm. Please arrange for a ride home. We need all the help we can get to win again, so if you know how to play and think you would like to try it out, contact Serghei ASAP.
  6. Some  students will be going to the Medical Explorers Orientation Thursday.  We will be leaving at 8:15 and returning at approximately 1:30.  Don't forget to bring money for lunch. 
  7. Found:  A pair of glasses. . .see Miss Connie to claim.
  8. The Art Club is sponsoring a pumpkin carving contest. Bring in your intricately carved pumpkins by Wednesday, with your Title, Name, and Grade and place them on the table in the commons area.  Judging will be on Wednesday and the winner will be announced Friday.
  9. School picture retakes are Thursday.  If you have NOT had your picture taken this school year or if you need retakes see Miss Tina for a picture form.  This would include any new students, students that were not at school on picture day, etc.  You do NOT have to purchase a picture package.

  3. If you are planning on attending FCCLA Region 9 meeting on Tuesday, REMINDER, you need to wear your FCCLA t-shirt, jeans and bring money for lunch.

  5. Congratulations to our photography contest winners:  Structure-1st place-Jasmine Wood, and Rule of Thirds-1st place-Tanya Robertson, 2nd place-Jasmine Wood, & 3rd place-Ashley Keller.  Our next contest, Macro photography, is posted at the library.  When you go to the library check them out.

Interested in government or business?  Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative will be sponsoring two students from our area to participate in the Cooperative Youth Conference and Leadership Experience. The conference will be held in Jefferson City, Missouri July 20-22, 2016.  If interested, see the bulletin board for more information.
